Authenticity, Origin & Certification

At CeylonBrilliant, authenticity is the foundation of everything we create.

We specialize in natural colored gemstones from Sri Lanka, an island renowned for its gemstone heritage for over 2,000 years. Every gemstone we offer is carefully selected and independently verified, so you can purchase with confidence and clarity.

Sri Lanka: A World-Renowned Gemstone Origin

Sri Lanka (historically known as Ceylon) is one of the most important natural gemstone sources in the world, especially for sapphires and corundum varieties.

Due to the large volume, diversity, and long history of gemstone mining and trading, Sri Lanka has developed a highly mature gemological ecosystem. Independent gem testing laboratories play a critical role in verifying authenticity and maintaining international trade standards.

It is within this environment that the Gemological Institute of Colombo (GIC) operates.

Gemological Institute of Colombo (GIC)

The Gemological Institute of Colombo (GIC) is one of Sri Lanka’s most established professional gem testing laboratories, based in Colombo at the center of the country’s gemstone trade.

GIC provides a comprehensive range of gemstone testing and certification services, supported by:

  • Experienced gemologists with international qualifications (including FGA, UK)

  • World-class laboratory instruments

  • Decades of direct exposure to natural Sri Lankan gemstones

GIC operates as an independent laboratory and does not trade gemstones, ensuring objective and unbiased evaluations.

You can learn more about GIC and its services on their official website:

GIC Certificate of Gem Identification

Every gemstone used in our jewelry is accompanied by its own individual certificate.

Accent Diamonds in Our Jewelry

Our designs center around natural gemstones as the main focus.

For accent settings, we choose lab-grown diamonds to achieve better value, consistent brilliance, and thoughtful design flexibility — without compromising beauty or quality.

Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds with the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as mined diamonds, and their use is clearly disclosed on each product page.

International Certification Standards

While GIC certification is widely used and respected within Sri Lanka’s gemstone industry, select gemstones may also be accompanied by additional international laboratory reports, such as GIA or IGI, depending on the stone and availability.

Any additional certification will always be clearly stated on the product page.
